PortSide Builders announced the appointment of Joel Daoust as the company’s new president.

Daoust brings 28 years of residential construction expertise to the role, having worked in virtually every aspect of the business since joining PortSide Builders as a carpenter in August 1996.

His extensive experience, encompassing sales, design, job site coordination, construction crew management, and nine years as vice president, positions him for this leadership transition.

Daoust has worked closely with outgoing President Paul Shefchik for several years in preparation for the transition. One of the original pioneers of PortSide Builders, Shefchik has been with the company for 50 years. Shefchik served as president for over 11 years, successfully leading the organization to its current record sales and growth.

Shefchik will remain active with PortSide Builders as vice president, managing the sales team and collaborating with existing and potential new developers on future projects. Gregg Pieschek, estimating and drafting manager, will support this transition by assuming additional responsibilities as assistant manager of sales and project development.

“PortSide is a family business, and everyone on the team is part of that family,” said Daoust. “My journey through the company, from carpenter 28 years ago to now president, demonstrates the opportunities available at PortSide for those who are willing to work hard, learn, and grow.”

“Today marks a significant milestone for PortSide Builders,” said Fran Shefchik, founder and chairman of the board. “Joel Daoust has been a trusted leader within our organization for 28 years, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and stakeholders alike. We are confident that he will lead us with integrity and vision, building on our strong foundation for continued success.”
