It may be “tax season,” but it is always sales tax season. No industry has more complex tax compliance issues than contractors when it comes to sales and use taxes. We are going to get down to brass tacks on how to avoid an audit– from a former sales tax auditor and Wisconsin Dept of Revenue contractor sales tax expert.

Whether you feel you are an expert or a beginner, this presentation will teach you new things! Sales tax is commonly misunderstood by tax practioners and preparers– so its important that you learn to ask the right questions and recognize which purchases/sales create tax consequences– and what reporting and/or record-keeping will raise red flags for an audit. Learn why audits are selected, what are the red flags and how to avoid those habits that will get you into tax trouble.
