Two prominent window-and-door manufacturers have come together with complementary product lines, Iowa-based Pella Corporation announced that it had acquired Medford, Wisconsin-based Weather Shield Mfg. Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Both companies are privately held.

In a press release, the companies emphasized Weather Shield’s relative strength with products targeting architects and that this would expand Pella’s product offering in high design namely the VUE Collection, an ultra-modern aluminum product line introduced in 2023.

Pella maintains a strong relationship with both consumers as well as architects, remodelers, and replacement contractors. It recently won a major award for new ads aimed at high-end consumers.

It is assumed that Weather Shield products will soon be available through Pella’s own network of distribution branch locations, which have been a key to their strategy and growth over many years.

For it’s part, Weather Shield goes to market via a large network of independent dealers. How these relationships will be managed going forward will be a key question for executives in the coming months.

“Weather Shield has demonstrated an outstanding understanding of architectural design and consistently delivers on quality and customer expectations,” said Tim Yaggi, CEO of Pella Corporation. “Together, we’ll build on our complementary strengths to create even more compelling solutions for the customers we serve.”

“We are thrilled to join the Pella family,” said Bob Foote, vice president, architectural business andpresident of Weather Shield. “This partnership represents a powerful strategic and cultural alignment that will allow our people and our business to thrive.”
